2026 California Window Tint Regulations:
Windshield: A non-reflective tint strip is permitted only along the top 4 inches of the windshield.
Front Side Windows: Must allow more than 70% of light to pass through (30% darkness maximum).
Since factory glass often has a slight tint, adding any film may bring the total VLT below 70%, potentially making it illegal.
Rear
Side & Back Windows: Any darkness (VLT) is permitted.
Reflective Tint: Mirror-like or metallic-looking tints are strictly prohibited on all windows. Side Mirrors:
If the rear window is tinted, the vehicle must have both side mirrors.
