I am looking for a man or a woman to help me with yard work. I need help outside my house. The most critical issue is the weeds that are growing up in my heavily wooded yard (one acre in size.)
$18 per hour.
I retired from UF two years ago, am 74 years old and live by myself. I drive to Publix 2-3 times per week and have a really wonderful female helper who runs errands, takes care of housework, administrative tasks, is a really wonderful helper/administrator/advisor and is a really terrific cook.
I had an infection in my spinal cord, a stroke and a heart attack about two years ago, was in the hospital for 69 days and spent about a year in a wheel chair relearning how to walk again. I avoid the wheel chair and have a ramp going up into my house. I see numerous doctors.
My balance is pretty poor and I walk with a rollator, a walker, and a cane.. My driving habits are still pretty darn good, my memory is stable and my many doctors tell me that my overall health is pretty good for my age considering I had no heart beat for about ten minutes when I had my heart attack.
My wife died about 15 years ago from ALS and two of my daughters (in their 30’s) have moved on. I see one of my daughters every Sunday evening.
My yard strategy has been to apply lots of wood mulch to suppress the grass and use weed killers (Roundup, etc) to suppress the weeds that have grown up through the wood mulch.
I want my yard person to plant a Fall Garden of veggies and flowers.
I live about one mile west on Millhopper Road past the Hunter’s Crossing Publix located at the corner of NW 43rd Street and NW 53rd Avenue.
I think that given the heat, the best candidate is between 25 and 40 years old. I pay using checks written on a local bank that is located across the street from “my” Publix.
I used to do all of my own yard work and home repairs. Given the heat, I anticipate hiring someone three days per week, eight hours per day.
You must have a reliable source of transportation (not a bicycle or a moped).
If you are interested, please tell me about yourself. If you do NOT tell me about yourself, I will not respond. In the past, when I have posted similar Help Wanted Ads, I have always received a large number of replies. I love to go fishing.
I am not looking for a roommate and I am not a fan of watching people on their cellphones while they are supposed to be working for me.
Please tell me about yourself, your work history and include some references (including phone numbers) who you worked for previously. John
