Thanks for reading my post! I need help with replacing a 6 foot long closet rod in a long and tall closet. I’m looking for an experienced handyman who lives within a 20 minute drive of Fort Lee. Towns like Hackensack, Englewood, Cliffside Park etc. This is a small gig and I want this to be easy for you. In addition, I do have 3 or 4 small gigs each year and if it’s convenient for you we could work together again.
My wife and I live in a 40 story highrise building in Fort Lee, NJ less than a mile from the GW Bridge. A reasonably wide and long hallway separates a long and tall closet from our small kitchen. There are 2, 6 foot long closet rods in this long and tall closet.
A couple of years ago we installed 2 new closet rods. I wanted to minimize my cost and installed 2 new inexpensive rods and shelves. They are made of wire covered with rubber. The cheap, poorly made rods collapsed twice in several weeks recently. I guess you get what you pay for. I’m now ready to pay for quality replacement hardware and quality installation.
If you are interested in this gig I’ll first text you photos of the closet. The next step would be:
-Come over to our apartment and evaluate the situation / job.
-Tell me what you would recommend in terms of how you would configure the new closet rod. Also, what parts and materials we would use and their cost? And, where would I buy them?
-We can negotiate fair and reasonable pay for your expertise. I usually like to pay an hourly rate with a minimum guaranteed total for the completed job.
