POTENTIAL TO EARN $50,000 OR MORE THIS WINTER IN JUST A FEW MONTHS. Yes, you read that correctly. In a snowy winter, $50,000 or more is very realistic for the hardest-working technicians who get on board early. Last season was nothing special, and our top technicians still earned roughly $70,000, while many others who got on board late in the game still surpassed $40,000. If the snow starts early and ends late, we expect to see several technicians break $100,000 in earnings this winter. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ THE JOB: Remove ice dams and snow from rooftops using a low-pressure steamer that we provide. Click this link to see what we do. No sales or finding customers (we sell and schedule all jobs). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We’re recruiting technicians from the Manhattan Craigslist area in Kansas who are willing and able to travel wherever winter storms create demand.
We are especially interested in independent contractors, small business owners, and/or their employees (one or more) who carry their own liability & workers' compensation insurance and have their winter open.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ THE COMPENSATION:
This is a 1099 subcontractor position, not a W2 employee position.
You’ll be paid per billable hour for your work. We do not pay for travel time, fuel, etc.
We pay $125 per billable hour for local work.
We pay $175 per billable hour for out-of-town work.
Refer friends, coworkers or employees to us and you may also earn a recruiting bonus: extra money for every billable hour they work. This must be agreed upon ahead of time, before any work begins.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ STEP 1 — MEET THE FOLLOWING MUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:
You must be available throughout the winter & be able to prioritize this work above everything else.
You must have a clean, reliable open-bed 4x4 pickup truck, whether owned or rented.
Aside from the steamer we supply you with, there are a variety of basic tools and miscellaneous supplies that you must have. You may already own these, or you’ll need to purchase them.
You must already have, or purchase, your own commercial general liability and workers' comp insurance policies.
You must be physically able to climb ladders, work from ladders, carry ladders overhead, shovel snow from rooftops, etc. This is not for you if your age or ability makes any of this sound challenging.
Being able to travel out-of-state to a specific location for extended periods of time is often required when the work is not local to your location.
You must bring a strong work ethic, professionalism, drive, a sense of urgency, some pep in your step, a commitment to safety, and a desire to do this type of work.
You must have a valid driver’s license, maintain good personal hygiene and a clean, professional appearance, and be consistently ready to perform demanding work safely and reliably.
A basic background check won’t produce findings of great concern.
If you meet all of the above, WE WANT YOU! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ STEP 2 — THROW YOUR HAT IN THE RING: We’re building our roster of technicians for this winter. If this opportunity sounds like a good fit, answer the questions below so we can learn a little about you, your availability, your skill set, etc. There’s no commitment at this stage. You’re simply letting us know that you’re interested, that you meet all of the must-have qualifications, and that you would like to be considered for the next stage of onboarding. No resume-only or AI-generated replies will be considered.

Your location City and state.
Travel Are you willing and able to travel and spend time out of state working when available work arises?
Current occupation What do you do? Are you self-employed, a business owner, or an employee?
Adventurous work Why would you be a good fit for this type of work? In other words, and with all due respect, what makes you think that you have what it takes to do this job?
Number of people Just yourself, or do you have multiple people? If the latter, how many?
Independent contractor arrangement Do you understand that this is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity, rather than a W2 employee position, and are you comfortable working under that arrangement?
Temporary work with a full-time commitment Can you commit full-time whenever this temporary, weather-dependent work is available, including traveling and staying out of town as needed? Part-time and weekend-only availability will not work.
Insurance Do you have or are you able and willing to acquire your own commercial general liability and workers’ compensation insurance?
Winter availability Are you available throughout the winter, at the very least January and February?
Truck access Do you own a clean, reliable 4x4 open-bed pickup truck, or can you rent one? Many of our techs rent.
Rooftop work Are you physically capable, comfortable at heights, and confident you can do the job safely?
Take this part seriously Tell us who you are and what makes you tick. This is your chance to stand out! Please take this opportunity to tell us about yourself. With so many applicants, this question is oftentimes the most important one and the first part we read.
Double-check your contact information Double-check your mobile number and email address for correctness! Craigslist relay email addresses expire, and we’ll need reliable contact information to reach you later. Although we prefer to talk on the phone, email and/or text messaging are oftentimes the best and only option when there are so many candidates to reach out to. Please be sure to answer every question. Attention to detail is essential in both this work and your response.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ STEP 3 — WAIT TO HEAR BACK FROM US: Don’t expect to hear back right away. We’re still busy with our other businesses and typically don’t begin our next stage of onboarding until winter begins to show its hand. Throwing your hat in the ring now puts you ahead of the guys who wait until our roster is already full. When the snow begins or continues to fall (and sometimes that isn’t until midwinter), depending on what Mother Nature sends our way, we’ll reach out to the people who best fit what we need, walk them through the work, and answer their questions. Assuming we're not already full up, you can bet your bottom dollar you’ll hear from us the moment winter weather starts to gain steam and we can more reliably predict work. At this stage, it’s all about getting on our list of interested technicians who meet all of our must-have requirements and take the time to answer every question above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ICE DAM GUYS Nationwide Ice Dam Removal www.IceDamRemovalGuys.com
