The client is a 55 year old man who has ALS. This can be full time or part time or you can live with us. Only non-smokers can apply because the client is allergic to tobacco. He weighs about 160 lbs. The client is my husband and he lives with me and our 6 children. The ages for the kids are 26, 21, 19, 13, 9 and 6. The younger kids go to school. The 9 and 6 year old kids also go to after school care till 5:30 pm. The 26 year old is my son and he doesn’t work and he takes care of my husband every day from 7 am to 11:30 pm. I am a stay at home mom.
He wakes up every night about every 2-3 hours needing help so the work hours are from 11:30 pm to 7 am preferably every night but we need someone ASAP so we are okay with doing less hours if necessary .
The duties are helping the client urinate during the night using an urinal where he sits up in his hospital bed, using a machine to suck out mucus from his nose, using a breathing machine that he uses all night long, while is lying completely flat he needs someone to pick him up a little bit to move him towards the headboard because when he sits up to urinate he slides down some on the bed.
For a live in employee, there’s a bedroom that is available every day from 7 am to 11:30 pm only because I sleep in that same bed every night from 11:30 pm to 7 am. I will change the sheets every morning to your sheets for the bed . There’s a king size bed, a night stand and a dresser with 6 drawers for your clothes.
Pay is dependent on experience, availability, and role of scope (hourly, salary or live in)
