These Pennsylvania chairs are of historical significance gifted in the year 1832. Set of 4 antique regency excellent mahogany dining chairs or game table chairs having a curved mahogany top rail and saber front legs with swept back rear legs. These chairs are original and very sturdy H 34" x W 19" x D 17", Date 1834. (A Chippendale chair from the same collection sold at Bonhams in 2015 for $31,250.)
This set was gifted to William Henry Brown and Laura Ann Howell at their wedding in 1832.

*Arthur Howell was born October 20, 1748 in Philadelphia to Joseph Howell and Hanna Hudson and his family lived on Chestnut street, between Third and Fourth streets. He became a Quaker minister at an early age but also owned a leather store on Chestnut Street. He married Mary Mott in 1778 and they had seven children. He died in 1816.
