Very rare original Jared Arnold, Jr. Amber, New York 8 Day clock and movement (3 feet tall). This is a pre Civil, War era (1825-1840) clock of high caliber. The clock movement has been professionally serviced and keeps great time. The 2 weights and key are included.
This striking mid-1800's shelf clock blends neoclassical lines with decorative folk charm. The wooden case is finished in real top quality figural mahogany, flanked by original stenciled columns with gold. Its upper tablet features an original painted on glass scene of a building, maybe a church, on a waterway. The lower door bears a reverse-painted large mansion on a waterway with masted sailing ships. There is also a small window in the center to show the brass pendulum as it passes by. The beautifully detailed original Roman numeral dial visible behind the upper glass panel. Paint losses to the dial do not detract from the presence or historical interest of this early American timepiece.
This clock movement has been professionally serviced and keeps great time. The 2 weights and key are included.
