Express Lead Technician: Experienced Line Tech (berkeley)

Every shop has an Express lane. Most of them run on hope.

I'm looking for the experienced tech who knows how to make one run on a process.

You've put in your years on the line and you know the work cold. Maybe you're ready to step back from the heavy repair work and from carrying your own production numbers. But you're not done with the shop. You still want to be the one running it.

Toyota of Berkeley is hiring an Express Lead Technician. You're in charge of the Express team's production, not your own, and you're the one point of contact for the Express team. You set the pace, coach the crew and hold the standard. You still work on cars right alongside them.

Your number is the team's number.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Work on vehicles in tandem with the Express team while you run the lane
• Dispatch every car, keep every stall full and keep wait times down
• Make sure every car gets a full multipoint inspection with photos or video inside our time standard
• Spot repair needs and get them to the advisor while the guest is still here
• Hold the crew to the standards we've set. You sign off on every quality check before a car leaves the stall.
• Train lube techs and apprentices and move them up the Toyota certification path
• Have a say in who we hire for Express and how they're reviewed
• Work with the service manager on goals and with the shop foreman on every handoff. You and the foreman cover each other's day off.

WHO YOU ARE

• A current or former line technician, 5+ years preferred
• Ready to step back from heavy repair and lead the team's production
• You've led a crew, run a lane or been the go-to tech in the shop
• You like a process and you hold people to it
• Calm on a packed Saturday morning
• Valid California driver's license and a clean driving record

BIG PLUSES

• Toyota certified at any level or ASE certified
• CDK and digital inspection experience
• You've trained apprentices before
