The 1994 Mercedes-Benz E320 Cabriolet is widely regarded as one of the finest luxury convertibles of the 1990s and represents the end of Mercedes-Benz's era of over-engineered, hand-built automobiles. Based on the legendary W124 platform, these cars are renowned for their exceptional build quality, refined driving dynamics, and long-term durability. Production was limited, making the E320 Cabriolet a relatively rare and highly sought-after model among Mercedes enthusiasts.
Powered by Mercedes' smooth and reliable 3.2-liter inline six-cylinder engine, the E320 Cabriolet offers a timeless combination of comfort, performance, and understated elegance. With its fully power-operated convertible top, genuine wood and leather interior, and classic Mercedes styling, it remains a car that is equally enjoyable for weekend touring or collecting. Well-maintained examples continue to enjoy an outstanding reputation and are increasingly recognized as modern classics.
This particular example has been well maintained and presents an excellent opportunity to own one of Mercedes-Benz's most admired open-top touring cars of the modern era. The car is Imperial Red with a black interior and black soft top.
I believe I am the third owner of the car. Maintenance of the car is up to date with new tires, brakes, brake hoses, a brake fluid exchange, coolant flush, air conditioning recharge, etc. The convertible top operates correctly with a recent aftermarket canvas replacement. Previous repairs included rebuilding the convertible top hydraulics, a transmission rebuild and replacing the engine wiring harness.
Since the car is 32 years old and has never been restored, it does have a few imperfections:
- The cruise control only works intermittently;
- The ambient (outside temperature) gauge doesn't work:
- The "low oil level" light comes on even though the oil is full;
- The interior is in overall good condition but there are a few rips in the passenger seat;
- A prior owner disabled the secondary air injection pump (part of the emissions system) as other Mercedes owners have done since it's considered unnecessary; this causes the "check engine" light to come on occasionally
- There are several areas where the clear coat is peeling;
- There is one small rust spot starting on the left front fender (see last picture)
The car runs and drives great- a very comfortable cruiser. I have installed a modern aftermarket Continental radio (that looks like it belongs there) with Bluetooth connectivity but I have the Becker radio that was in it previously, if desired. I removed the "E320" script from the trunk lid but I will give it to the new owner in case they want to reinstall it.
I am in no rush to sell the car and I am not interested in any trades. Please reply with "Mercedes E320" in the subject line.
