This is a revival piece in the Chippendale / Rococo Revival style, probably late 19th century (Victorian).
This chair for the ages is very solid. No wobble or creaking.
The elaborate pierced back with intertwined scrolls and what look like stylized dolphins or dragons is very typical of Rococo‑influenced Chippendale patterns, which used fantastical creatures, heavy carving, and S‑curves.
The solid, dished seat and cabriole legs ending in animal (paw) feet are also hallmark Chippendale motifs, widely copied in Victorian and later revival furniture.
The seat has a crack as shown in another picture. However, it has not had an effect on the sturdiness of the chair.
