Location: 2480 S. Wolf Rd., Des Plaines, IL 60018
Schedule: Evening shift 7:00pm – 3:00am; weekends and holidays required based on production needs.
Position Summary
The Evening Shift Baker prepares doughs, batters, fillings, cakes, and pastries while completing scheduled baking for store inventory and customer orders. This position follows established recipes and production schedules to ensure consistent quality, freshness, and timely completion.
Responsibilities
• Measure and mix ingredients for doughs, batters, and fillings.
• Prepare, shape, and bake products following established recipes.
• Operate mixers, ovens, and other bakery equipment safely.
• Pull products from the freezer and cooler as needed for production.
• Check products for quality, freshness, and consistency.
• Label, store, and rotate ingredients and finished products.
• Keep work areas and equipment clean and organized.
• Follow food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Work with the bakery team to complete daily orders on time.
• Perform other related bakery duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Previous commercial bakery experience preferred, particularly in mixing, cake production, dough preparation, and oven operation.
• Ability to follow recipes, production instructions, and basic measurements accurately.
• Strong attention to product quality, consistency, and cleanliness.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and work efficiently in a busy production environment.
• Dependable attendance and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Availability for evening shifts, weekends, holidays, and additional hours during peak seasons.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform repetitive mixing, shaping, lifting, bending, and reaching tasks.
• Ability to move ingredient containers, baking pans, and production racks safely.
• Ability to work around hot ovens and in refrigerated and freezer areas.
• Ability to perform the essential duties of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
