Each gallon estimated coverage is 350 to 500 sqft - 350 would potentially be a deck 20' x 15' with railings.
I restored / repaired an older medium sized deck & railing, then used this product which is not a primer, as a primer, intending to apply it, and a *Redwood* topcoat for the best wear and weathering resistance.
I had the product for sale here, a lighter shade in the Redwood family, so that I could see proper coverage when I applied the 2nd coat. The photos will show the pinkish lighter and the final darker Redwood finish coat, which is what the customer desired.
I have two gallons left over. The paint per gallon new is just under $50.00 with tax and the paint care fee, per can. Each can would cost about [$50.00].
The cost per can that I have listed is [$25.00], so in effect the cost here per can is 50% off; [$25.00 for one can, [$50.00] for them both.
Your topcoat for redwood, what is in the photos, can be any water based product of a redwood finish, the same Olympic product, or the BEHR product that the THD also sells; I used a BEHR product, 5 years for decks, 15 for fences, since the home is a rental, and the deck surface will more than likely need some surface deck and railing top maintenance within 5 years.
Aside from a deep 'redwood' topcoat, other darker colors like deep grays, navy blues, or rich browns would also work.
The two coats of this paint product after good preparation, should deliver years of protection and pleasing appearance.
