Immaculate Iida 237 model 5 string resonator banjo. Late 1970's era made in Japan. This was a period when Japanese makers were giving domestic makers a real run for the money - this is Iida's top of the line professional grade instrument. A time machine - the instrument is in excellent cosmetic and playing condition (probably needs to be restrung) and could be of interest to a collector as well as a player. The model 237 (chrome) and 239 (gold) were the top of the line flathead instruments by Iida. Original parts. Maple neck with MOP inlays. Curly maple resonator with inlay and marquetry in high gloss finish. No shrinkage or breaks in the bindings (very uncommon) just a rich amber color from age. Chrome plated hardware. Two piece flange. Full weight bell brass tone ring. Only the Iida models 237 and 239 had cast bell brass flathead tone rings. Frets look almost unused. Nice low action. Case also in excellent essentially new condition.
