PUGET GOLD is the #1 apricot recommended for our climate and conditions – considered the most reliable and best variety for the Pacific Northwest. The fruit is extra-large with a rich sweet flavor and color. It is excellent for fresh eating, jam, ice cream, preserves, desserts, cobblers, or dehydrating. Washington State University developed Puget Gold in 1988 from the chance finding of an heirloom seedling. They cultivated this variety to set fruit even in cool, wet springs and to ripen in short summers. Puget Gold trees are disease resistant and considered the easiest-to-grow apricot. They have prolific crops when mature; the fruit usually ripens throughout August. Prunus armeniaca ‘Puget Gold’ USDA Zones 5 - 9
