1957 Chevy 3100 pickup truck for sale. You can call her a resto mod or Frankenstein but her name is Jezebel. She is a fun ride that gets thumbs up and comments where ever she goes.
Drive train: Engine is an Oldsmobile 455 big block with a TH400 3 speed automatic transmission. Nice sounding idle with plenty of torque, no notable performance modifications just a basic low maintenance V8 from the 1970s.
Suspension, etc.: The front clip is reportedly from a 1976 Camaro so it has independent front suspension and drives like a 1970s car rather than a 1950s truck. Power steering with a tilt steering column, reportedly from a 1970s Cadillac. The rear end is reportedly from a 1972 El Camino, the gear ratio is unknown but I’d guess it to be 3.08. The wheels are old school magnesium torq thrust mags with radial t/a tires. The tires are from 2020 and have a couple of thousand miles on them. Front disc brakes, rear drum brakes.
The cab is from a 1955 GMC pickup so the gauge cluster is not the usual V shaped Chevrolet look. All gauges are replacements.
She underwent a frame off restoration in the early 2000s after a failed attempt to convert to a “king cab” (the botched cab was replaced with one from a 1955 GMC). A photo album documenting that work is included in the sale.
No heater. The parking brake is not connected. The wipers work but I’ve never taken her out in the rain so I can’t say how effective they might be. The stereo is a Bluetooth am/fm unit with a finicky volume knob.
A cold start requires use of the manual choke and a couple of minutes of warm up but once warm she purrs like a kitten and drives like a 1970s car rather than an old truck. Although her stance is low the hauling capacity is good, I’ve hauled many loads of soil across town over the years.
There are some blemishes and she is certainly not a trailer queen, but if you are looking for a cool old truck that drives like a 1970s sedan, and can be used as a truck without worry, Jezebel is the one for you!
