After being homeless for a while, I’m truly grateful to say I’ve finally moved into a small efficiency apartment here in Hartwell. Having a roof over my head is a huge blessing, but I’m starting completely from scratch and have pretty much no money left to get the basic things I need for my place.
Things are finally turning around, and I know God is good and will send exactly what I need right when I need it. I’m posting here in hopes that someone might have some spare items lying around that they’d be generous enough to donate (or part with for cheap).
Most Urgent Needs:
Small microwave oven or toaster oven (desperately need this so I can make basic meals)
Roku or Amazon Fire Stick (my brother gave me an older flat-screen TV, just need a streaming stick to make it work)
Older laptop or Wi-Fi desktop computer (free or around $10) — Right now I’m traveling to the library every day to do job applications, and it’s slowly eating away at the bus fare money I need for job interviews.
Bedding, Household & Tech Items:
Twin size sheets & pillows
6-way power strips or extension cords
Cleaning supplies & laundry detergent
Wall clock
Unused smart light bulbs or a Wi-Fi security camera (one that doesn't require a paid app subscription, just to keep an eye on my place while I'm gone)
Bluetooth speaker
Vinyl records (for my portable record player)
Clothing & Shoes:
Winter coat (XL or 2XL)
Men’s jeans (42 waist)
Shoes (size 12)
Food & Laundry Quarter Exchange:
Non-perishable food (canned goods, box meals, dry pantry items welcome while I wait for food stamps to kick in — please no frozen stuff since my setup is limited right now)
Quarters for laundry: My building uses coin laundry. My bank balance is currently under the $20 ATM withdrawal limit so I can't get cash out. I have $5 on Chime (or PayPal) if anyone would be willing to trade me $5 in quarters for it!
Job Leads (Felon-Friendly):
Any job suggestions or leads would be so appreciated. I do have an older felony drug possession charge on my record. I’ve been clean and sober and participating in 12-step meetings for years now, but I still find myself getting judged and overlooked for my past addiction. I just need a fair shot to work hard and pay my rent.
Pickup / Drop-off:
I can meet you anywhere along the bus line for pickup, or if it's easier for you, I can give you my address for drop-offs.
