Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Manufacturing & Factory Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day manufacturing operations of AWT World Trade and Graphic Parts International.
This is a hands-on factory leadership position responsible for production scheduling, employees, workflow, productivity, quality, safety, and coordination across manufacturing, engineering, purchasing, inventory, shipping, sales, and customer service.
The ideal candidate is comfortable spending significant time on the factory floor, identifying problems firsthand, making sound decisions, holding employees accountable, and keeping production moving in a high-mix manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee daily manufacturing and factory operations for AWT World Trade and Graphic Parts International.
• Lead, manage, develop, and hold accountable employees across factory departments.
• Maintain an active presence on the factory floor and independently verify production progress, problems, employee performance, and operating conditions.
• Develop and adjust production schedules based on customer commitments, labor and machine capacity, material availability, engineering requirements, and changing priorities.
• Assign and prioritize work and manage labor allocation, staffing, overtime, and cross-training needs.
• Conduct regular production reviews to identify job status, shortages, bottlenecks, quality concerns, engineering issues, and other obstacles affecting production.
• Identify production delays, shortages, bottlenecks, quality concerns, and other issues and take corrective action before delivery commitments are affected.
• Clearly communicate priorities, responsibilities, and expectations and ensure work is followed through to completion.
• Take ownership of day-to-day factory decisions while recognizing when issues require senior management involvement.
• Provide management with timely and accurate information regarding production status and significant operational issues.
• Manage employee performance, including training, attendance, productivity, conduct, and adherence to company procedures.
• Address employee performance or conduct concerns promptly and professionally.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, bills of materials, tolerances, specifications, and other manufacturing documentation.
• Coordinate with purchasing and inventory personnel to identify material shortages and reduce production delays.
• Oversee shipping operations and ensure completed orders are properly prepared and shipped on time to meet customer commitments.
• Monitor product quality and investigate production errors, scrap, rework, and recurring quality issues.
• Identify and implement improvements to manufacturing methods, workflow, organization, and resource utilization.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance and equipment repairs to minimize downtime.
• Enforce company safety procedures and safe work practices.
• Maintain factory cleanliness, organization, and proper material storage.
Qualifications:
• Minimum 5 years of experience managing production employees or manufacturing/factory operations preferred.
• Experience managing a hands-on manufacturing environment.
• Experience with machining, fabrication, welding, mechanical assembly, electrical assembly, equipment manufacturing, or similar processes strongly preferred.
• Experience with custom, engineered-to-order, or made-to-order manufacturing is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of production scheduling, labor planning, material flow, inventory, and manufacturing workflow.
• Experience using ERP, MRP, manufacturing scheduling, or similar production management systems.
• Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, bills of materials, tolerances, and manufacturing specifications.
• Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Mastercam, or similar software is a plus but not required.
• Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to personally investigate issues on the factory floor.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple jobs, departments, priorities, and deadlines.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across production, engineering, purchasing, shipping, sales, customer service, and management.
• Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
