I was born and raised in Japan. I went to Berklee College of Music and now work as a professional musician and tutor. After graduation, I moved back to Japan for one and a half years where I taught english to japanese children. I also worked closely with visiting foreign staff as a Japanese teacher and translator.
Having learned a second language myself, I have a deep appreciation for how challenging it can be and therefore approach all my students with patience and sensitivity.
I ask all my students to write daily journal, which I use as the focus of our in class discussions. I find that keeping a journal is a particularly effective method of teaching language because it combines reading, writing, and speaking all in one. I also try to tie in different aspects of Japanese culture and lifestyle into each class such as cuisine, music, art, etiquette, and current events to keep our classes fun and interesting!
Tutoring is $60/h via Google Hangouts. I accept payments using venmo. Keep in mind, I am genuinely excited about teaching you japanese and often go overtime free of charge for dedicated students.
