Above Average Candle Studio is hiring a Candle Studio Assistant!
We’re not your typical retail store and we’re definitely not looking for someone who wants a typical retail job.
Our studio is all about connection, fragrance, creativity, music and creating memorable experiences. From date nights and birthday celebrations to girls' nights, DIY workshops and corporate events, our guests come to us to have a memorable experience.
We need another amazing personality to help us make that happen!
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
You might be a great fit if you:
- Are 21 years of age or older
- Have a fun, friendly and welcoming personality
- LOVE interacting with people
- Are comfortable talking to groups and strangers
- Can bring energy without needing someone to constantly tell you what to do
- Enjoy music, fragrance, DIY projects and creative environments
- Can work as part of a team
- Are comfortable cleaning, organizing, restocking and helping keep the studio beautiful
- Are dependable and take your work seriously while still knowing how to have fun!
Hospitality, retail, restaurant, event, entertainment or customer service experience is a PLUS — but personality, reliability and willingness to learn are extremely important to us.
PUNCTUALITY IS A MUST
This one is important.
Our guests make reservations for experiences that begin at specific times. That means our team has to be ready BEFORE the guests arrive. If you are someone who is regularly running 10-15 minutes late, this probably isn't the right position for you.
We're looking for someone who takes pride in showing up on time, prepared and ready to work.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
As a Candle Studio Assistant, you'll help our Studio Managers create an incredible guest experience. Depending on the day, you may:
-Welcome and check in guests
-Help prepare the studio before experiences
-Assist with hosting candle-making and DIY workshops
-Help guests throughout their experience
-Prepare and organize supplies
-Reset tables between sessions
-Clean and maintain the studio
-Package candles and guest creations
-Help with fragrance blending
-Assist with parties, date nights and special events
-Take photos/videos when needed
-Bring ENERGY and help keep the studio vibe fun!
And yes, you'll learn a lot about fragrance and candle making along the way.

PAY
$17.50–$20.00 per hour, depending on experience.
This is a part-time, in-person position at Above Average Candle Studio in Chicago.
Evening and weekend availability is important because those are some of our busiest times.
