Then & Now builds and repairs residential decks to meet local building code requirements, with careful attention to structure, safety, and finish.
**New Deck Installation**
Every new deck starts with an on-site inspection and layout. We measure the space, plan the size and height, and confirm the design before work begins. Footings are real concrete footings, placed and set level to give the deck a solid foundation. The frame is built square, level, and securely fastened, with proper support for decking, railings, and stairs.
**Decks on Slopes**
Sloped lots need extra care. We step the framing to fit the slope, set footings at the right height for each section, and keep the deck level and stable from the high side to the low side. Posts, beams, and bracing are installed to handle the slope and keep the structure solid over time.
**Deck Repair and Restoration**
For existing decks, we inspect the full structure first, including footings, posts, beams, joists, decking, railings, and steps. We replace rotted, warped, or damaged boards, repair or replace weak framing, re-secure loose railings and steps, and bring worn decks back to safe, solid condition. Where the structure is sound, we can restore the surface and finish instead of replacing the whole deck.
**Materials and Finish**
We supply all materials for the job. All exposed wood and decking materials are stained to protect the deck and give it a clean, finished look. Railings and steps are finished to match, so the whole deck looks complete.
**Cleanup Included**
A dumpster is included for old decking, cutoffs, and job debris. We remove the waste and leave the work area clean when the job is done.
