This beautiful 1956 Ford Thunderbird comes with the P-code engine rated at 225 horsepower and Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission. It also features a rare factory color combination with a Raven Black exterior and striking red and white interior. Approximately four percent of the Thunderbirds produced in 1956 were equipped with this distinctive color combination. Originally delivered to Ben Barclay Motors in Los Angeles, California, on April 20, 1956, the car remained in Southern California until the early 1990s, when it was purchased and brought to Tucson, Arizona. It was subsequently acquired by the current owner in 1997.
In 2019, the Thunderbird underwent several improvements, including a repaint, engine overhaul, new convertible top, and new upholstery. More recently, the fuel pump was rebuilt. The car also comes with an original removable white hardtop. However, the original top according to the build code was Fiesta Red. Over the years, someone must have traded the red top in for a white. This is an attractive example of Ford's iconic two-seat Thunderbird, combining a desirable factory color combination, documented early history, and long-term ownership.
