Position Overview
ERC Company is seeking experienced Welders for both 1st and 2nd shifts. This position works in a fast-paced job shop environment producing a variety of custom and production components.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on welding skills and the ability to work from drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform manual welding using appropriate processes, including MIG and TIG welding.
Set up and operate welding equipment based on job requirements.
Weld a variety of materials, thicknesses, and part configurations.
Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, job travelers, and work instructions.
Prepare parts for welding by cleaning, fitting, aligning, and securing components.
Select the appropriate welding process, filler material, settings, and technique.
Use fixtures, clamps, and measuring tools to maintain dimensional requirements.
Operate or assist with robotic welding equipment as assigned.
Inspect completed welds for quality, appearance, penetration, and conformance to specifications.
Identify and correct welding defects when necessary.
Perform grinding, blending, deburring, and other finishing work.
Maintain accurate production and inspection records.
Meet quality and production expectations in a fast-paced job shop environment.
Follow ERC’s ISO 9001:2015 quality procedures and documentation requirements.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Follow all company safety policies and properly use required personal protective equipment.
Communicate job status, material issues, drawing discrepancies, and quality concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
Qualifications
Previous professional welding experience in a manufacturing or job shop environment.
Proficiency in manual MIG and TIG welding.
Ability to read and understand manufacturing drawings and weld symbols.
Knowledge of welding preparation, fit-up, distortion control, and finishing techniques.
Ability to use measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, squares, and gauges.
Ability to produce repeatable, high-quality welds while meeting production deadlines.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to workmanship.
Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.
Willingness to work on a variety of jobs, materials, and production quantities.
Robotic welding experience is preferred but not required.
Experience working within an ISO 9001:2015 quality management system is preferred.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Ability to bend, reach, kneel, and work in different welding positions.
Ability to safely lift and move materials or components as required.
Ability to work around welding equipment, sparks, fumes, noise, and other typical manufacturing conditions.
Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
This position requires someone who can work independently, communicate effectively with the shop floor, identify potential issues before they reach production, and adapt quickly to the variety and pace of a precision job shop.
Schedule: First Shift, Monday–Friday
Compensation: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour, depending on experience
