Busy Bees Cafe & Catering is an award-winning, family-owned café and catering company in Capitola. We operate a busy scratch kitchen producing breakfast, lunch, baked goods, and a high volume of catering throughout Santa Cruz County.
As our company continues to grow, we’re looking for experienced Prep / Catering Production Cooks to join our kitchen team.
This is a fast-paced production position, not simply basic prep. Our production team prepares food for both our busy café and catering operation, including large catering orders, platters, salads, sandwiches, breakfast and lunch items, and daily kitchen production.
We’re looking for people who can move quickly, stay organized, produce consistently, and take pride in presentation and quality.
What You’ll Do
Prepare food for both café and catering production
Produce and assemble catering platters and large orders
Prepare sandwiches, salads, breakfast and lunch items, and other catering components
Prepare vegetables, proteins, sauces, dressings, spreads, and other items from scratch
Follow recipes, portions, and presentation standards
Handle high-volume production while meeting catering deadlines
Maintain quality and consistency while working at a fast pace
Perform professional knife work and cooking techniques
Properly label, date, rotate, and store food
Maintain organized prep and production lists
Keep your workstation clean, stocked, and organized
Communicate effectively with the kitchen and catering teams
Assist other areas of the kitchen when needed
Follow all food-safety and sanitation standards
Who We’re Looking For
Professional kitchen, catering, or high-volume food-production experience is strongly preferred.

We’ll teach you the Busy Bees recipes, menu, and systems. We’re looking for people who already understand how to work efficiently and professionally in a busy kitchen.
What We Offer
$18–$23/hour base pay depending on experience
Approximately $4–$7/hour additional tip share
Typical total compensation of approximately $22–$30/hour
