The full collection contains:
- Five Plate Block binders date range from 1938 - 1988
- Three Zip Block binders date range from 1964 - 1983
- One Foreign binder (limited population)
- One Airmails binder date range from 1941 - 1989
- One Ghana binder (limited population)
- Two Mint Sheet folders
- Three First Day Cover books, date range 1969 - 1976
-Miscellaneous plate and zip blocks in glassine envelopes, as well as other items that may be considered “collectible.” I don’t have a full count of the miscellaneous stamps within the plate and zip lock categories, but it looks like at least over two hundred. If you need to know, I can count them.
The majority of the stamps in collection are mint never-hinged (MNH). With the exception of a few the centering is mostly superb, fine, good. The majority are well-preserved in Minkus and other high quality binders, and protected in stamp mounts. The stamps in the collection have the original glue, although every stamp has not been flipped over and individually verified. A small number of foreign stamps are postmarked.
The pages in the binders have not been "cherry picked." In other words, the stamps that are the most desirable remain in the binders.
My thoughts on stamp collecting -
Stamp collecting is a hobby, and it's a thrill every time you turn the page. It teaches you about history, about different cultures, and raises awareness about historical events while perpetuating curiosity. Learning about the history, art, and science of stamps is rewarding. Stamp collecting increases intellectual knowledge and stimulates fantastic conversations within family, friends, and strangers in everyday life. Think of stamps as a time capsule, and you're keeping a historical record for future generations. Be proud to show them off on your coffee table.
