Data Capture Contractor – Construction Site | Birmingham, AL
Doxel is looking for a reliable independent contractor (1099) to perform reality-capture work at an active construction project in the Birmingham, AL area.
This is expected to be a 12-month project, with an anticipated start date of approximately October 1, 2026.
This role requires someone who is dependable, comfortable working independently, and able to communicate consistently with our remote Operations team.
Pay: $400 per capture day
Location: Birmingham, AL
Project Duration: Approximately 12 months
Anticipated Start: October 1, 2026
Schedule: Weekly capture work based on project needs
Typical Start Time: Approximately 6:00–7:00 AM
Time Onsite: Approximately 4–5 hours per capture day
Responsibilities
*Walk the active construction site while operating Doxel-provided 360° camera equipment.
*Follow designated capture routes and instructions.
*Upload all captured data the same day.
*Communicate with Doxel Operations before, during, and after captures when needed.
*Immediately report access issues, site changes, equipment problems, or anything preventing areas from being captured.
*Work independently onsite after training.
Requirements
*Must be comfortable walking for 4–5 hours on an active construction site, including in outdoor weather conditions.
*Must be comfortable wearing required PPE.
*Must have reliable transportation to the Birmingham, AL jobsite.
*Reliable computer and internet connection with 30+ Mbps upload speed preferred for same-day uploads.
*Must be comfortable using mobile apps and basic computer software.
*Must be able to pass required background screening and drug screening.
*Must provide a current, up-to-date resume showing your current or most recent work experience.
*Construction experience is helpful but not required. Training and capture equipment will be provided.
Communication & Reliability
Communication and reliability are extremely important for this position. You will often be working onsite independently without a Doxel employee physically present.
You must be proactive, regularly check your messages, respond quickly to calls, texts, or Slack messages from our Operations team, and provide updates without having to be repeatedly followed up with.
If you encounter an access issue, equipment problem, schedule conflict, or any other issue that could affect the capture, you are expected to communicate it as soon as possible rather than waiting until later in the day.
