Cast iron "smudge pot" holds kerosene or oil lamp fluid.
The wand has an ornate handle and ceramic wick. After sitting in the pot for a while, the wick absorbs the kero or lamp fluid. When lit, it will burn for about 10 minutes. Place the wick in the fireplace or woodstove, instead of kindling, to ignite the wood. When finished, place the wick back in the pot and cover it with the brass lid. The flame will then be smothered.
Can also just be used a decorative fireplace/woodstove ornament.
