Mile Limit is a neighborhood Mediterranean restaurant, wine bar, and bodega in Berkeley. We’re looking for a friendly, wine-knowledgeable Server / Wine Associate to help guests discover great wines, enjoy dinner, and find bottles to take home.
This is a hybrid hospitality and retail role. You’ll take food and drink orders, pour wines, serve guests, and actively help customers shop our wine selection. We use a mix of counter and table service, so being flexible, attentive, and comfortable moving between responsibilities is essential.
What you’ll do
* Serve food and wine: Take orders, pour glasses and flights, provide bottle service, and help keep service running smoothly.
* Sell retail wine: Start conversations, learn what customers enjoy, and recommend bottles that fit their tastes, occasion, and budget.
* Guide guests: Make approachable wine recommendations and suggest pairings from our Mediterranean menu.
* Keep the space running: Handle transactions, restock bottles, maintain displays, polish glassware, clear tables, and help with opening and closing.
Who we’re looking for
You have some wine knowledge and a genuine interest in learning more. Restaurant, wine bar, tasting room, or wine retail experience is especially valuable. You should be comfortable talking about wine without making it intimidating, recommending a bottle without being pushy, and giving the same care to someone buying a single bottle as someone settling in for dinner.
We’re a small team, so reliability, initiative, and a willingness to jump in matter. This is a good fit for someone who enjoys both the pace of restaurant service and the conversation behind a thoughtful wine recommendation.
Evening and weekend availability preferred.
Compensation: Minimum wage + tips.
