Striking large-format abstract work by Southwestern artist Randy Lee White, signed “R Lee White 83” at lower right and titled “Below the Surface” in pencil at lower left.
This example is an editioned hand-colored lithograph, numbered 21/60, featuring White’s distinctive combination of abstract architectural forms, gestural lines, figures and vivid red, blue, yellow and green accents.
A particularly nice piece in person—the hand-applied elements and layered surface give it considerably more presence than a conventional flat print.
An example of this same 1983 composition, numbered 40/60, has previously been offered by Santa Fe Art Auction and identified as a hand-colored lithograph. An acrylic-on-paper version of Below the Surface has also appeared at auction with a substantially higher estimate, confirming that White produced the composition in more than one medium.
Frame is 32.5” x 26”
Presented in a glossy red frame that works extremely well with the colors of the artwork.
