Seeking female Personal Care Assistant. Prefer experience working with seniors. Starting pay $30 per hour.
ABOUT ME: I am a retired disabled woman who uses a power wheelchair for all my mobility needs. Originally from New York, I moved to the Bay Area in 1975 after graduating college. A former program director, project developer and researcher in the Disability Community where I remain active. I enjoy writing, films, a good book, food, and spending time with friends. I am known to have a good sense of humor and appreciate that trait in the people around me.
Available Shifts
Monday – Sunday
8 AM to 2 PM (sometimes ending at noon)
And 8-11pm
Duties Include:
Personal Care: Pivot turn transfers (125lbs, 5’2”) assistance with showering (Roll-in- shower), toileting, dressing, grooming, range of motion exercises.
Health: Applying scalp medication, toe guards, suppositories.
Household: Meal prep and light house cleaning.
Errands: shopping for groceries and health supplies, post office, dry cleaner, etc.
Driving: medical appointments, meetings, community activities, and social visits (I have a wheelchair accessible van).
**My current attendant and I will train in all aspects of this role.
Attributes: reliable and trustworthy, compassionate, excellent communication skills, flexible, punctual, ability to exercise good judgment and attention to details. Comfortable with a performing a variety of tasks.
Qualifications:
Current IHSS provider or willing to be proactive about registering.
Valid California driver’s license (ID)
Social Security card.
Updated Covid and Flu vaccinations.
Strong preference for applicants living in Berkeley, Oakland, Albany, and El Cerrito.
