The Studio: Bright, airy 26 x 12 space in the backyard of the house, bordering the alley. Freshly painted a creamy yellow, with new double-pained windows recently installed. It is well insulated and has its own dedicated mini-split electric heat-pump with heat and air conditioning. It stays very cozy in the winter and cool in the summer. It is freshly carpeted with a solid pad over the concrete foundation, so it is soft on the feet. Three large windows face the back and side yard. I think it’s a pretty sweet spot!
The Main House: Cozy mid-century single story bungalow with some character. Its definitely lived-in, and I try and keep it warm and inviting. The kitchen has a new induction range (great to cook on) and an older dishwasher. The kitchen has plenty of cabinet/pantry space to for a dedicated zone to store your food, gear etc. Hardwood style laminate flooring. Older washer and dryer that rumble a little bit but work fine. Small full bath. You’re welcome to use the living room area as well. I try to keep things tidy, but a combination of ADHD and a long-haired dog means that if you need things to be extremely spick and span all the time this probably wouldn’t be a good fit. I’m open and communicative when it comes to house-related matters, and expect the same from whoever moves in.
Outdoors: The studio is 30 ft or so from the main house. There is a small fire pit and bbq in the back, and plenty of space for you to set up additional items (outdoor furniture etc). There’s room for gardening, and while I don’t expect it I would welcome anyone that would enjoy planting or helping grow and maintain the area. Lots of off-street parking right next the studio space. Room for multiple vehicles.
About me: I’m a 41-year-old cis-male Bellingham native. I have progressive values and would want the same from whoever I live with. I try to live a fairly low-impact life, and don’t use heavy fragrances. Ive worked most of my life as a professional cook/chef, and currently work at the Food Co-op with an added bonus of constantly bring home free groceries of all sorts which I am happy to share. I love art, music and media of many different strains, and on any given night you’ll find me at home listening to techno while making stew or cozy watching a movie hanging with my dog, or maybe out and about at a show or playing pinball.
I reached my lifetime allotment for alcohol a few years ago, so I don’t drink and am some form of California Sober. Its an important part of my life. I try to keep minimal drinking in the main house, and can’t live with someone who is a very heavy drinker or is going to “bring the party home” frequently. Generally things are pretty mellow around here. I periodically have friends and family over to hang out for meal etc.
Annie is a 13-year-old blue heeler mix who pretends like she is dumb but is pretty smart. She’s a bit of a queen diva, and is very food-focused. She gets along with most anyone once she gets to know them, and generally ignores other animals unless they get in her face/and food, which can cause her to be briefly reactive. She rarely barks, and loves good cuddles once she gets to know you.
I’m looking for an independent, mature, respectful, and open-minded adult who values clear communication. Pet friendly on a case-by-case basis.
