This is a very large hand carved bear with caught salmon carved in Hokkaido, the northern most island of Japan. The Ainu people of Hokkaido are well-known for their tradition of carving bears.
This is a unique piece, very finely carved, estimated date mid 1900s.
Weighs about 20+ lbs, and measures 20" x 13" x 12". Very polite work and deep taste.
