I hold a Louisiana commercial and residential contractor license and can serve as qualifying party for another company consistent with LSLBC rules and R.S. 37:2156.1
If your company has the people, equipment, and ability to do the work, let’s talk. The license belongs to your company. It is not my license, and it is not transferred or rented. Your owners do not take the trade exams - my qualifying exams cover commercial and residential classifications already approved on the license I qualify.
What your company gets is its own LSLBC license, so it can bid and pull permits in the classifications approved. LA application processing time estimated 60-90 days. The Board reviews credit and background for the company, its principals, and the qualifying party. Residential, home improvement, and mold applicants must carry the required liability and workers’ compensation coverage. All applicants must also meet the LSLBC financial-statement requirements.
This only works if the qualifying-party relationship is real and stays in place. I must be a full-time W-2 employee, or partner, officer, stockholder, or LLC member or manager. If I leave, the company has 30 days to notify the Board and 60 days to qualify someone else, and it cannot start new work in those classifications until it does.
