We are seeking an experienced Machine Operator Lead for a stainless steal company in Aurora to oversee daily production activities while working alongside the manufacturing team. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for coordinating workflow, ensuring production schedules are met, maintaining quality standards, and promoting a safe and efficient work environment. The Machine Operator Lead will provide guidance, training, and support to team members while collaborating with management to resolve production, inventory, and operational challenges.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and support machine operators and production personnel to ensure daily production goals are achieved.
Review production schedules and prioritize work based on shipping deadlines and customer requirements.
Coordinate workflow by providing employees with the necessary materials, tooling, and equipment for efficient production.
Monitor inventory levels and work-in-progress to identify production priorities and address material shortages.
Work closely with management and cross-functional teams to resolve production, inventory, and job-related issues.
Issue production materials, complete job transactions, and maintain accurate production documentation.
Operate production equipment and work alongside team members to meet departmental goals and deadlines.
Assist the Welding and Fabrication departments as needed to support overall production requirements.
Perform final quality inspections to ensure products meet company and customer specifications.
Train, mentor, and develop team members on equipment operation, quality standards, safety procedures, and best manufacturing practices.
Maintain adequate inventory of production supplies, tooling, and consumables.
Coordinate basic maintenance and upkeep of department-specific tools and equipment.
Communicate production updates, operational changes, and quality concerns to team members.
Participate in production, continuous improvement, and safety meetings.
Package finished products for shipment according to company standards.
Accurately document materials and production activities using work orders and production routers.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by following all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Production Supervisor or Management.
Qualifications
Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment required.
Prior leadership, lead operator, or supervisory experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of machine operation, production processes, and quality control procedures.
Ability to read and interpret work orders, production schedules, blueprints, and manufacturing documentation.
Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to train and motivate employees while promoting teamwork and accountability.
Comfortable operating production machinery and using hand and power tools.
Basic computer skills for production tracking and inventory documentation.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand, bend, walk, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift.
