This is a field service position to customers in the Massachusetts area.
Systems Analysis Services has been providing computer, network and business technology services throughout New England since 50 years. We are looking for an experienced, hands-on **Senior Systems / Network Engineer** to join our team in Newton.
This is not a help-desk-only position. We need someone who understands the whole IT environment and is comfortable taking responsibility for servers, Microsoft 365, Azure, networks, security, backups, PCs and customer support.
You will work both from our Newton office and **on-site at customer locations throughout Greater Boston and New England**.
What You Will Do
- Administer **Microsoft 365**, including Exchange Online, users, licensing, MFA and security
- Support and administer **Microsoft Azure**
- Install, configure and troubleshoot **Windows Server**
- Support Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP and file/print services
- Configure and troubleshoot business networks, switches, routers, Wi-Fi and VPNs
- Install and support firewalls and network security systems, sophos, Cisco
- Maintain servers, workstations, laptops, printers and related equipment, on-site break fix work
- Monitor and verify backups and perform disaster-recovery testing
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, networking and Internet problems
- Perform Microsoft Windows upgrades, patching and system maintenance
- Support remote users and remote-access systems
- Set up new PCs, users, email accounts and customer locations
- Document customer networks, equipment, passwords, licensing and configurations
- Diagnose problems remotely and travel to customer sites when hands-on service is required
- Help plan server, network, cloud and security upgrades
- Work directly with customers and explain technical issues in plain English
- Take ownership of problems and follow them through until they are resolved
Experience We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone with **strong real-world IT experience**, not someone who has only worked from scripts at a help desk.
You should be comfortable walking into a customer location, looking at the network and servers, figuring out what is wrong, and fixing it.
Strong experience with:
- Microsoft 365 / Exchange Online
- Microsoft Azure
- Windows 10/11
- Windows Server
- Active Directory and Group Policy
- DNS / DHCP / TCP/IP
- VPNs and remote access
- Firewalls and network security
- Managed switches, VLANs and Wi-Fi
- Backup and disaster recovery
- PC and server hardware
- Antivirus / endpoint security / EDR
- Troubleshooting business networks
Experience with **HPE servers and infrastructure, IBM systems, SQL Server, virtualization, Linux, QuickBooks environments or cybersecurity/compliance** is a plus.
Microsoft / Azure Certification
Current Microsoft certification is strongly preferred, particularly certifications involving **Azure administration, Microsoft 365, identity, security or Windows Server/hybrid infrastructure**.
