The Van
1997 Ford E250, 5.4L Triton V8, runs perfectly
- 75,000 original miles — mostly highway, never driven hard. In a previous life, this van was a police surveillance vehicle.
- Regular oil, fluid, and filter changes on schedule; can provide full maintenance history
- Runs great, zero issues; this engine definitely has a lot of life left in it!
The Build (on top of what I originally bought it for, I have ~$15K+ invested in it)
- High top conversion by Wasatch Overland (specializes in high tops for econolines, out of Salt Lake City) — significant stand-up height, ~$10K+ build
- Upgraded electrical system: new 100Ah lithium battery + 100W roof-mounted solar panel + DC-DC charger + upgraded wiring + main off/on switch + 500W inverter — complete reliable off-grid power (~$1K)
- Espar/Eberspächer Airtronic B4L M2 gasoline-fired heater (12V, 4kW) — taps directly into the van's own gas tank, runs super cleanly and efficiently. This feature makes the van legitimately winter-capable and four-season ready (it keeps it very comfortable in cold temps for ski and mountain trips) (~$2K)

A Personal Note
The van’s name is Stevan… I love him; it's hard to let him go, but I want him to end up with someone who'll love him and enjoy him for many years to come.
