Up for sale is a beautiful and authentic Antique Kestner 211 Bisque Head Character Baby, famously known as "Sammy." This doll features the classic "pouty" expression that collectors highly prize. Marked on the back of the head with: "K. Made in Germany 14. 211. J.D.K."
Features
Head: Fine quality bisque with masterfully painted features, including feathered eyebrows, delicate eyelashes, and shaded pouty lips.
Eyes: Original blue glass sleep eyes that function smoothly.
Body: Original German composition and wooden ball-jointed toddler/baby body with the original finish.
Markings: Clear J.D.K. (Johann Daniel Kestner) stamps on the neck.
Condition Report
Bisque: The bisque head is free of hairline cracks or chips. There is some minor surface dust and light age-related peppering/marks consistent with an antique of this age (please see close-up photos).
Body: The composition body shows some typical light wear and minor scuffing at the joints. The stringing is slightly loose but holds poses well.
Wig/Pate: The original plaster pate is present with remnants of the original wig glue.
Clothing: Comes wearing a vintage knit diaper and booties.
