About the role
We’re a small, independently owned 3-chair general dental practice (not a DSO) looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Dental Assistant. This is primarily a chairside role. Our office performs a full range of procedures, including general endodontics, hygiene, orthodontics, prosthodontics, oral surgery, and periodontics.
The schedule is fixed at three days a week, making this a good fit for an experienced assistant who wants consistent, predictable hours. You’ll support the dentist during procedures, keep our operatories clean and compliant.
Unlicensed Dental Assistants are welcome to apply; pay is set by experience and licensing. Mandarin speakers are a big plus, as many of our patients prefer to communicate in Mandarin — basic conversational ability is enough.
What you’ll do
Clinical:
-Assist chairside with all clinical procedures
-Take X-rays using our wall-mounted intraoral unit
-Sterilize and maintain instruments and equipment; set up and break down operatories between patients
-Keep operatories and work areas clean, stocked, and compliant with CDA and ADA infection-control and safety standards, and set up rooms with appropriate procedure equipment
Patient Care:
-Greet and prepare patients, explain procedures, and deliver post-op instructions clearly
-Answer questions with patience and professionalism, balancing a patient-centered approach with the ability to guide patients appropriately within the clinical scope of the role
-Provide a friendly, organized experience from check-in to check-out
Equipment care
-Handle instruments, handpieces, and sensors with a careful, gentle touch — our equipment is precision equipment, and we need someone who treats it that way
What we’re looking for
Required
-Dental Assistant experience in a clinical setting, with reliable chairside competency across endo, hygiene, perio, and oral surgery
-Standing and current California Radiation Safety (X-ray) certification, or willingness to obtain it before taking radiographs
-Basic understanding of dental payer processes (coverage and benefit limitations)
-Familiarity with Dentrix practice management software
-Experience maintaining paper charts and reading and following written chart notes
-Strong attention to detail and excellent customer service skills
-Ability to maintain a clean, compliant clinical environment per CDA and ADA guidelines
-Ability to quickly digest patient clinic history from written chart notes and prior visits.
-Assist with care coordination with Primary Care Physician/ Specialty Dental Clinics
Preferred
-Conversational Mandarin
-1+ years of independent chairside experience
Compensation and benefits
-$19.00-$21.00/hour starting for unlicensed Dental Assistants; higher based on years of experience, licensing, and scope
Opportunity to expand into administrative work (training provided), with pay scaling accordingly
