Antique Japanese Taiko temple drum, probably late Meiji period, around 1890.

Solid wood body carved from a single piece of keyaki (Japanese zelkova), with beautiful grain and a great aged patina. Traditional hide drumheads with iron studs, with an iron hanging ring and hardware.

Measures about 14.5" tall x 12" diameter and weighs around 10 lbs.

Nice antique condition with plenty of character and age-related wear. Top skin is intact and tight. Bottom skin has a small hole but still stretched tight. Wood has surface wear and patina, and the iron hardware has natural oxidation.
