For Sale, Cash Only, for $2500.00 is a Ray Dearstone D1A F Style Mandolin with a Brand New Hardshell Crossrock ABS Case. The case comes with backpack style straps and 2 case keys. This mandolin is dated New Year's Eve of 1999. I've had it since June of 2023. It's made with a Red Spruce top, 2 piece Maple Back, and maple sides. It has tone bar bracing, and a Maple Neck with a truss rod. In June of this year I just put a brand new $250.00 James tailpiece on it and also Brand New Grover Nickel Tuners, along with new strings. It has an ebony Fingerboard and an Ebony Peghead Overlay. It is single bound with Ivoroid on the Front Only. It is a copy of a John Monteleone mandolin. New, it sells for $6500.00 dollars. The fretboard is flat and has a 1 3/32" nut. Made in the USA in Bristol, TN. This instrument has the tone, volume and craftsmanship that Ray Dearstone has always been known for, and exemplifies why so many professionals have chosen to play his instruments through the years. Basically I am selling this as I have too many mandolins.
The condition is on the high side of good, but it is not perfect, as is normal, for an instrument that actually gets played. It has a Sunburst Hand Rubbed nitro lacquer finish. Ray is a big believer in tuning the air chamber for the maximum response, and I have always thought that was only one of the single components that makes his instruments top-tier in my opinion.
