Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Construction Superintendent to oversee residential construction projects in Altadena, including wildfire-rebuild projects. The Superintendent will manage daily field operations, coordinate subcontractors and inspections, maintain the construction schedule, and ensure that all work meets approved plans, quality standards, and applicable Los Angeles County building requirements.
Responsibilities
Manage daily construction activities from site preparation through final completion.
Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, deliveries, equipment, and inspections.
Read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, and MEP plans.
Maintain project schedules and identify potential delays.
Verify that work complies with approved plans, specifications, building codes, and safety requirements.
Monitor workmanship and correct quality-control issues promptly.
Conduct daily site inspections and maintain organized project records.
Provide regular progress reports, photographs, and schedule updates to management.
Coordinate excavation, foundations, concrete, structural framing, AAC installation, roofing, windows, stucco, MEP systems, and interior finishes.
Review subcontractor work and verify completion before payment approval.
Track material quantities and help prevent waste, damage, and unauthorized changes.
Coordinate with homeowners, project managers, architects, engineers, inspectors, and utility representatives.
Maintain a clean, secure, and professional jobsite.
Enforce company safety policies and applicable OSHA requirements.
Develop and complete punch lists and manage final inspections and project closeout.
Minimum Qualifications
At least three years of experience as a construction superintendent, assistant superintendent, or residential construction supervisor.
Experience managing new residential construction or major residential reconstruction.
Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, building methods, and jobsite safety.
Ability to read construction plans, details, engineering documents, and specifications.
Strong leadership, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to coordinate multiple subcontractors and maintain an active construction schedule.
Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.
Ability to use email, smartphones, photographs, and basic project-management or scheduling software.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Los Angeles County inspections and permitting.
Experience with fire-rebuild projects in Altadena or surrounding communities.
Familiarity with AAC masonry, light-gauge steel framing, steel joists or trusses, and MGO sheathing.
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills.
Current First Aid/CPR certification.
Physical Requirements
The position requires regular walking and standing on active construction sites, climbing ladders and stairs, working outdoors in varying weather conditions, and occasionally lifting construction materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Compensation and Schedule
This is a full-time position. Compensation will be competitive and based on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and demonstrated ability to manage residential construction projects.
