***I am not seeking a room to rent or roommate situation***
WILL CONSIDER HOUSE-SITTING, PET-SITTING, OR CARETAKER SITUATION OF AT LEAST 3-6 MONTHS.
I'm looking for a sublet anywhere within the Toluca Lake/Burbank/Glendale area. My current sublet term ended early (and on very short notice!), due to the owner's daughter needing to move in.
I'd like to find a long-term sublet, but I'm also OK with a shorter sublet of at least 3-6 months. I prefer one that's reasonably affordable, since it will just be me staying there.
I am a 58-year-old self-employed small business owner, and I work from home. I am single with no children, no roommates or dogs. I do have cats, but they are extremely well-behaved and have never once gone potty outside of their litterbox.
I do not smoke, drink, or do drugs of any kind! I am normal and sane and college-educated. I'm an extremely clean, quiet workaholic and card-carrying introvert, and I do not like having guests. I do not entertain or "party" at all, as my space is my sanctuary, and I am very protective of my peace and sanity from the hustle-bustle of the world. I don't even own a stereo! I am also a frequent DIY-er, and can do a variety of small repairs, gardening, painting, etc., if you have a fixer-upper.
If I sound like a "too-good-to-be-true" tenant, I will tell you why I must sublet instead of renting a regular home. Since I am self-employed in a creative-arts field, I don't earn a big income and therefore do not qualify for traditional housing because of the strict income requirements. 99% of landlords now require their tenants to prove that they earn 3x and 4x the rent. Average rents are $2,200-$2,500 per month, meaning that I must earn $6,600-$7,500 per month, which I do not, to qualify for even a cruddy apartment.
Because of this new-ish rule, I have been subletting for several years, and it's worked out fine. I can provide proof of income and excellent references from two of the three previous sublets (one passed away). I'm available for interviews now, on the phone or in person.
