I studied bonobos, looking for clues of advanced culture, beyond mating rituals and territorial behaviour. I came to love our gentle cousins. I worked at a metropolitan zoo doing my doctoral thesis (I wont say wich one), and eventually, like Jane Goodall, I was accepted into their community, but not quite. They were decidedly cliquish. I was treated as a guest in their world.
I decided to live like them, with them, as Jane did. I convinced the zoo and the university to let me live in a cage next to them, to have them see me sleeping and living as they do - a neighbor. I riggged up a sleeping chair in a tree, and over time made my apartment as much like theirs as possible. When the rest of the humans would leave every evening, I would stay with them, alone and unguarded.
It worked, and I was slowly accepted into their community, and an amazing capacity for friendhsip, loyalty and love was revealed to me! It was unlike anything I had experienced before. The signs were always there, but until they showed them to me I missed their true meaning.
Eventually I was able to leave the partition open all the time, and my nest became a part of the community nest, though they did respect my special chair and never occupied it. I came to know these people - and they really are people - as well as any friends I ever had.
One night, I was approached by Alonzo, a young adult male, and very beautiful. He exuded that scent that only male bonobos have, a scent I had come to find very attractive. He displayed his erect penis to me, about seven inches long. Finally! I thought. I would be able to experience the fantasy I dreamed of ever since I was sixteen!
