We have this beautiful black gelding that we have decided to sell. Hes aqha registered. He is halter broke and leads well. Hes still a bit jumpy at times when touched or brushed but getting better with that.
We got him as a three year old intending to train him but when we went to start him, he began coming up lame. We had him to our local large animal vet (not an equine specific vet), they thought maybe he had gotten kicked by another horse, but they didn’t do any testing or X-rays. We were told to bring him home to rest and gave him meds and see what happens. He definitely did get better but we feel like there is still something not quite right. Possibly he needs to have a chiropractor check him out? Or be seen by an equine vet?? We did genetic testing just to rule that out and he came back 6 panel negative so that’s great.
All this being said, We don’t want to put a lot of time and money into him as we aren’t really set up to baby our horses super hard so if you want to give it a try your welcome to. I feel like he would make some one a great horse if you can figure out the lameness thing.
He wears his hooves super well needing almost zero maintenance on them so far.
If you would want him to even just be a pasture pet or a buddy horse for another one you have he would probably do great at that to.
