JOB 1: Build a freestanding practice wall ($100)
- Simple 2x6 frame (about 55" x 38") with a center stud and two 1x12 support legs
- Braced with Simpson L-straps and T-straps
- Written instructions with exact cut list and photos provided
- Must be accurate: both openings need to be at least 25-1/4" wide and square
JOB 2: Install two Lutron motorized roller shades on that wall ($100)
- One single roller shade on standard brackets
- One dual shade (sheer + blackout) in a metal pocket with side channels
- Includes drilling, mounting brackets, hanging shades, and connecting low-voltage (plug-in) wiring to terminal blocks and power supplies
- Neat wire dressing with cable ties is required; photos of the finished work will be reviewed
- Step-by-step instructions provided. No high-voltage electrical work.
ALL MATERIALS PROVIDED. You bring your own tools:
- Miter or chop saw
- Cordless drill and bits, including a 1/2" spade bit and a step (unibit) drill
- Speed square, level, tape measure
- Wire strippers (10-26 AWG) and a small flat screwdriver
