If your student is planning to take the SAT in spring 2027, you now have expert, affordable help. I'm forming a weekly online class this fall for students who want to prepare gradually and thoroughly rather than cram shortly before the test.

My philosophy is simple: go slow at first to go fast later.

I teach the tips, tricks, strategies, and time-management techniques that can help students perform better on the SAT. But there is no trick that substitutes for understanding the math, recognizing how sentences work, and knowing how to reason through an unfamiliar problem.

Because we're starting well before the spring SATs, we have the luxury of building those fundamental skills and filling in gaps before putting more emphasis on SAT-specific practice, strategy, and speed. As the test gets closer, students can work faster and more confidently because they're working from a stronger foundation.

Students will then have the option to continue with the class in the new year, when we'll shift more of our attention toward SAT-specific practice, test-taking strategies, timing, and speed as the spring test dates approach.

The goal isn't simply to practice taking the SAT. It's to get better at the things the SAT asks you to do.

How the class works

• One live 60-minute online class each week
• Enrollment will be limited to keep the class interactive and allow time for student questions
• Carefully selected worksheets and SAT practice between classes
• Answer keys provided for independent checking
• A structured timeline so students know what to work on each week
• Time during class for questions about assigned practice

I provide the instruction, materials, assignments, answer keys, and study plan. It is up to the students to participate in their own preparation by completing the practice, checking their answers, and bringing questions to class. Homework is not individually collected or graded.

Quality teaching is much more than just knowing the answers or having information at your fingertips. It’s about creating a foundation of trust so that a student feels relaxed, secure, and willing to ask questions.

Over more than 35 years of tutoring, I've learned that students learn best when they don't feel judged or compared, when they know it's OK to make a mistake, and when there is an easy dialogue that rests on mutual respect. With that foundation, students can focus, think clearly, and allow their natural desire to learn and succeed to emerge.

For me, teaching is a personal art. I don’t “make” a student learn. I help create a space where learning naturally occurs.

Try the first class for $30

So that students can see whether my teaching style and the class are a good fit, I offer the first class for $30. Students who wish to continue can then enroll for the remainder of the fall program at $40 per weekly class, paid in advance as a package.

Fall 2026 Class Details

• When: Sundays, 1:00–2:00 p.m. Pacific / 4:00–5:00 p.m. Eastern
• First class: Sunday, October 4
• Final fall class: Sunday, December 13
• Thanksgiving: No class November 29
• Number of classes: 10
• First class: $30
• Remaining 9 classes: $360 ($40 per class), paid after the first class if the student chooses to continue
• Total fall cost: $390
• Enrollment: The class will begin with a minimum enrollment of five students. Enrollment will be limited to keep the class interactive and allow time for student questions.

About me

I'm a Harvard graduate with more than 35 years of experience tutoring mathematics, science, English/writing, and standardized test preparation. I work with students from middle school through advanced high-school courses and have extensive experience preparing students for the SAT and ACT.

• $132/hour — one session per week
• $120/hour — two sessions per week
• $108/hour — three or more sessions per week
