Hi,
If your student could use help in math, science, or writing, I offer highly individualized tutoring tailored to the way your student learns.
My name is Chris Dingman. I’m a summa cum laude Harvard graduate with more than 35 years of teaching and tutoring experience. I offer tutoring in:
Math through Calculus, including AP Stats
Physics
Chemistry
Biology
Writing — from organization and structure to style and grammar
SAT and ACT preparation
I’ve worked with hundreds of students, helping them improve grades and test scores, understand difficult material, and—just as importantly—become more confident and comfortable as learners.
I was also voted Marin County’s Best Tutor for 2022 by readers of The Pacific Sun.
I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and work with students everywhere by Zoom or Google Meet. My teaching career began at Harvard, where I served as a course assistant in Calculus. Since then, I’ve taught students from middle school through college and created educational content for major tutoring companies.
Why Families Work With Me
Experience: Teaching is an art. It isn’t simply knowing the material or explaining the answer. It’s understanding a particular student—where they are confused, how they think, what makes them anxious, and what helps things click. After more than 35 years of teaching, I’m able to adapt quickly to the student in front of me.
Breadth of Expertise: I tutor math through Calculus, physics, chemistry, biology, writing, and SAT/ACT preparation. Students can often work with me across several subjects and over several years, giving them the benefit of learning with someone who already knows how they think and learn.
Individualized Instruction: I don’t use a one-size-fits-all program. We focus on exactly what your student needs, move quickly through material they already understand, and spend more time wherever they need help. Every session is built around the individual student.
Confidence: Students learn best when they feel calm enough to think clearly, ask questions, make mistakes, and try again. My style is easy-going but focused, and students who have struggled or become discouraged often find that difficult subjects begin to feel manageable.
I also have a parallel career as a professional writer of screenplays, essays, and poetry, which gives me an unusually strong background for students who need help with writing as well as math and science. My writing website is SparkWrites (dot) com.
Rates & Location
My rate for new students is $90/hour. Sessions are highly individualized, and there is no long-term commitment or prepaid package requirement.
I work with students throughout the country online via Zoom or Google Meet.
