Ginkgo Trees - rare varieties - $100 (Sacramento Valley, Wilton, Elk Grove)

There are two main reasons the Ginkgo isn't widely planted. Firstly, the seedling grown tree has such a wide genetic variation, most often the shape is gawky and undesirable. Secondly, the tree comes in a male and female on separate trees, and if you get a female, the subsequent fruit is terrible, smelling like dog poo. So don't buy seedling ginkgo - (unless for bonsai ) you'll want male grafted varieties. These are clones that bear no fruit and many named varieties have amazing forms. Some are dwarf and others are full size trees. I have both and these are not to be found in the local nursery trade. Occasionally you'll see these in botanic gardens - they are simply amazing for a specimen plant in the landscape.
These are so rare and hard to find, I had a couple drive from Ocean Port Washington to buy 3.
Photo 3 is Ginkgo Meriken, a beautiful dwarf. I have the high graft as shown as well as the low graft which forms a miniature conical shape.
I have 10 beautiful 6 foot tall Autumn Gold Ginkgos as well.

The upright forms are beautiful full trees, fully rooted, in 5 gallon containers and are 6 to 8 foot tall.
The Meriken is a dwarf on STANDARD AND LOW-GRAFT FORM. They are 3 to 4 foot tall.
