Position Summary
JB Lawn Sprinklers is seeking a dependable and motivated Irrigation Apprentice to join our team. This is an entry-level position designed for someone interested in learning the irrigation trade through hands-on field experience.
The Irrigation Apprentice will work alongside experienced irrigation technicians and supervisors
to assist with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of residential and commercial irrigation systems.
Responsibilities
• Assist with installation of new irrigation systems
• Dig trenches and assist with installation of PVC pipe, fittings, valves, sprinkler heads, and related components
• Assist with irrigation system repairs and troubleshooting
• Learn how to locate and diagnose leaks, broken heads, valve problems, and other system issues
• Assist with installation and programming of irrigation controllers
• Load, unload, and organize materials, tools, and equipment
• Maintain clean and organized trucks and work areas
• Properly use hand tools, power tools, and irrigation equipment
• Follow instructions from technicians, supervisors, and management
• Follow company safety procedures and jobsite requirements
• Maintain a professional appearance and attitude while on customer properties
• Communicate respectfully with customers, coworkers, supervisors, and other contractors
• Help maintain productivity and quality standards on each jobsite
Qualifications
• No previous irrigation experience required; irrigation, landscaping, construction, plumbing, or similar experience is a plus
• Willingness to learn the irrigation trade
• Dependable and able to report to work on time
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including digging, lifting, carrying materials, bending, and working on the ground
• Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a crew
• Professional attitude and good communication skills
• Valid driver's license preferred
• Reliable transportation to work
Compensation
Starting pay is $18.00 - $19.00 per hour, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.
Opportunities for increased responsibility and compensation may be available as the employee develops irrigation knowledge, demonstrates reliability, and becomes capable of completing more advanced work independently.
