D Z Strad Violin Shop is seeking a motivated and customer focused Fine String Instrument Sales Specialist to join our team in White Plains, NY. We are a full service violin shop specializing in handcrafted violins, violas, cellos, double basses, bows, accessories, rentals, repairs, and professional instrument services.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with musicians at every stage of their musical journey, from beginners selecting their first instrument to advanced students, educators, and professional performers, as well as the families who support them. The ideal candidate is personable, organized, and comfortable helping customers find the right instrument and accessories to meet their needs and goals while building lasting relationships within the music community.
Responsibilities
• Assist customers in selecting violins, violas, cellos, double basses, bows, and accessories based on their playing level, goals, and budget
• Provide knowledgeable guidance to students, parents, teachers, school music programs, and professional musicians
• Conduct instrument consultations, demonstrations, and side by side comparisons
• Manage inquiries from walk in customers, phone calls, emails, website leads, and other sales opportunities
• Follow up with prospective customers and existing clients to answer questions and assist with purchasing decisions
• Support rental customers with renewals, upgrades, and purchase options
• Build and maintain relationships with local music educators, private teachers, and musicians
• Maintain a welcoming, organized, and professional showroom environment
• Recommend appropriate accessories, strings, bows, cases, and maintenance products
• Learn and communicate the features and benefits of D Z Strad instruments and services
• Assist with outreach and customer development efforts as needed
Qualifications
• **Experience playing violin, viola, cello, or double bass is strongly preferred**
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Previous sales experience preferred
• Experience in specialty retail, musical instruments, luxury goods, or consultative sales is a plus
• Familiarity with orchestral string instruments, accessories, and music education programs is highly valued
• Ability to build rapport and establish trust with customers
• Comfortable working independently while contributing to a team environment
• Professional, patient, and personable approach with customers of all ages and experience levels
• Basic computer skills and the ability to learn company systems
Preferred Background
Candidates with experience playing violin, viola, cello, or double bass are strongly encouraged to apply. Experience participating in school orchestra programs, youth orchestras, college music programs, community orchestras, private instruction, or professional performance is highly desirable.
Music educators, private teachers, orchestra musicians, and individuals with firsthand knowledge of the string instrument community are excellent candidates for this role.
Candidates with strong sales ability and customer service experience who are eager to learn about fine string instruments will also be considered.

Schedule
Full time and part time opportunities available. Weekend availability may be required.
