Hello! I am Arsh Jhaj, a UBC MSc. graduate in Computer Science. I also completed a BSc. in Computer Science and Mathematics (with distinction) in May 2021, also from UBC, and received multiple scholarships throughout my studies due to my academic excellence. Professionally, I am a machine learning and software engineer, with recent roles at Motorola Solutions and Mark43.
I am offering tutoring services specifically for math and computer science courses at the high school or university level. This includes topics such as introductory programming, calculus, and linear algebra, all the way to more advanced subjects like real analysis, advanced algorithms, abstract algebra or machine learning. I am also happy to prepare students for tests like the SAT/ACT, or work with students enrolled in AP/IB courses, especially AP Computer Science and AP Calculus.
I have 6+ years of experience as a teaching assistant (2017-2023) at UBC Computer Science and 4+ years of experience as a private tutor. Across my teaching career I have worked with hundreds of students at the high school and university level. Among other accomplishments, I co-developed a new course at UBC Computer Science (CPSC 436R) on randomized algorithms alongside the professor, wrote programming scripts to facilitate grading processes in several courses and developed in-house AI models to facilitate curriculum development and manage course logistics.
I am delighted to take on new students, as I genuinely consider teaching my true passion.
My availability is generally flexible, as I work asynchronously. I will most likely be able to schedule you at your preferred time assuming there are no conflicts with other clients. My rate is $60/hr for high-school or early undergraduate work, and specialized upper-division or graduate-level coursework is quoted individually. I offer a free complimentary 15-30 min consultation session by phone or Zoom where we briefly discuss your goals.
I prefer to work virtually through Zoom. I have an iPad with an Apple Pencil to ensure smooth remote presentations. On request, I can work in-person at a higher rate.
